Tilley Distribution's Yaw Aidoo, Specialty Chem & CASE technical expert.

Yaw Aidoo, Technical Fellow

Technical Fellow

A big part of Yaw Aidoo’s work at Tilley Distribution is establishing and growing trusting relationships with customers. Call it a different kind of chemistry, but it’s integral to his role. With three decades of industry experience,  Yaw helps decision-makers make sense of complex formulations and realize the value of the technical support Tilley provides.

From his background as a senior applications chemist to his current role in technical development, Yaw’s unique skill set makes him an invaluable addition to any project development team.

The Industry’s Balancing Act

Yaw notes both the importance of and difficulty in meeting the UNSDG’s sustainability targets by 2030. Adopted in 2015, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cover 17 all-encompassing objectives, ranging from clean water to improvements in industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Meeting these goals isn’t easy, and, as Yaw points out, “There is also a need for businesses to provide products and services that are affordable to manufacturers and consumers. For example, in the Specialty Chem & CASE segment, we work with our customers to innovate, develop and improve the products they bring to market. This would involve introducing them to bio-based/sourced raw materials as alternates/offsets to hydrocarbon-based materials for use in their product development and formulations, and with technical assistance/support and guidance, result in relatively more sustainable and environmentally friendly products with reduced emissions and environmental footprint supporting the UNSDG Goals 3,5,8,9,12,13.”

Yaw calls this balancing act “the tightrope that product innovators and producers have to walk to ensure the viability of the society as a whole,” and it’s a major initiative at Tilley Distribution.

A Ready and Willing Resource for Customers and Colleagues Alike

In addition to supporting customers, Yaw uses his technical and product development expertise to help Tilley’s commercial teams, development, and research teams improve project outcomes. That could be the potential subject of Yaw’s future thesis, if he had the time, “The Importance of Technical Know-how and Support in Chemical Distribution.”
